Buffalo Street Residence
What is Buffalo Street Residence? BSR is a substance abuse program that accommodates up to 11 male federal offenders on UTAs, day parole, statutory release, and statutory release with residency, referred by Correctional Services of Canada (CSC). How do I apply and be accepted at BSR? This involves three steps:
Application Process Interested inmates must write a letter to St. Leonard's Community Services requesting an application. The application form will be sent to you. Complete and send it back to us. St. Leonard's will send a letter confirming receipt of your application. The Intake Co-ordinator will then schedule an interview with you. Interview Process As part of the interview process, you
will have an opportunity to learn about the programs and expectations
at BSR. The Intake Co-ordinator will also determine if you are a
good candidate for our program and if we can meet your needs. The
Intake Co-ordinator will continue to meet with you regularly until you
are released. Brantford Community Assessment Team The Brantford Community Assessment Team (BCAT) consists of 6 volunteers. In order for BCAT to review your case, your parole officer needs to request a Community Strategy to the Brantford Parole Office. Your case will then be presented to the Team and a decision regarding your residency will be made. A letter outlining the decision and terms will be sent directly to you. Life at Buffalo Street Orientation Upon arrival, you will learn more about the house rules, random substance use testing, and other available services in the Brantford Community. Counselling You will be assigned to a counsellor who provides weekly individual counselling. Additional support is always available. Programs Participation will be based on your specific needs. House Meetings Are held weekly to give you the opportunity for input into house policies and procedures. House Duties You will be assigned and expected to complete chores. Employment You will be expected to find a job, or attend school during your stay at BSR. Job search assistance and education resources will be provided. Rules House rules will be a part of your life at Buffalo Street, as sharing a home with others can be challenging. You are expected to adhere to these rules. House Rules
