2.4 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S RESPONSIBILITES FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS

The Executive Director will ensure that all staff and volunteers are treated in ways that follow and promote the Agency’s Mission and Values.  The Executive Director will hold ultimate authority on behalf of the Board, for ensuring compliance with all acts and regulations related to staff and volunteers, where applicable, including but not limited to matters of:

  • employment standards;
  • labour relations;
  • health and safety;
  • human rights; and,
  • equal opportunity.

The Executive Director will ensure that staff and volunteers are aware of and have access to Board approved policies. 

The Executive Director will not conduct him/herself in a manner that is unreasonable and imprudent, with respect to the employment, compensation or benefits to staff, consultants and contract workers.

Accordingly, she/he will:

  • support staff and volunteers in doing their work;
  • ensure that a staff performance appraisal system and clear job descriptions are in place;
  • welcome the diversity of individuals and promote growth opportunities;
  • establish compensation and benefits that reflect the Agency’s financial and operating environment, are within an average and competitive scale within the social services sector.
