POLICY

The Board of Directors will function in a manner befitting the integrity and professionalism inherent in a group of individuals charged with the task of oversight and accountability for a community organization.

1.1 GOVERNING STYLE

St. Leonard’s Community Services is governed by a Board of Directors, whose role is one of strategic leadership, including fiduciary responsibility.  Within this role, the Board will be proactive, encourage diversity of viewpoints and styles, provide strategic direction, be respectful in its activities, strive for consensus in decision-making and keep the Agency’s mission front and centre.

In this spirit, the Board will:

• be strategic in carrying out its mission through long-term planning;

• reinforce the need to govern with excellence and to continually learn to develop as a Board; and,

• monitor and discuss on a regular basis the Board’s own process and performance.
