Appendix 28 HEALTH AND WELLNESS COMMITTEE - TERMS OF REFERENCE
Approved January 2009
1) MANDATE
To promote health and wellness in the workplace.
2) COMPOSITION
- The Committee will consist of a minimum of 6 people representing a cross-section of Agency sectors.
- The Committee will choose from among the members a Chair Person and Secretary annually.
3) TERM
The length of term will be no longer than three years with a minimum of two staff turning over annually.
4) QUORUM
A quorum will consist of not less than 4 people.
5) DECISION MAKING
All decisions will be determined by consensus.
6) SCHEDULE
The team will meet monthly with the exception of July, August and December.
7) AUTHORITY
The Health and Wellness Committee is a standing committee of St. Leonard’s Community Services reporting to the Management Team.
8) ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To encourage and support the Agency’s ability to provide a happy, healthy and safe working environment.

To increase awareness of various health related topics using bulletin boards, flyers, pay cheque inserts, the intranet, staff newsletter, recognition, etc.

To encourage activities that provide staff with the skills needed in order to support positive lifestyle changes.

Where relevant, to liaise with Health and Safety Committee regarding policies, initiatives related to staff wellness.

The Chair of the team is to notify the Human Resources Administrator of any changes to the membership.
