6-550 GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES

POLICY
Staff with a grievance related to his/her employment, or related to the interpretation or application of the Human Resources Policy, will follow the procedures below within ten (10) working days of the occurrence giving rise to the grievance:
PROCEDURE
- The staff will present his/her grievance in writing to his immediate Supervisor who will respond, in writing, within four (4) working days.
- If the grievance is not handled to the staff's satisfaction, the staff will present the grievance, in writing to the Service Director who will respond, in writing within four (4) working days.
- If the grievance is still not handled to the staff's satisfaction, the staff will present the grievance, in writing, to the Executive Director who will respond in writing within four (4) working days.
- If the grievance is still not handled to the staff's satisfaction, the staff's written report and the Executive Director's written response will be forwarded to the next meeting of the Resources Committee of the Board of Directors for their review and recommendation. The Resources Committee's recommendation will be made within five working days of their meeting and such recommendation will be final and binding on all concerned parties. The Resources Committee report will be forwarded to the next meeting of the Board of Directors or sooner if necessary.
The following situations are not subject to grievance by a staff:
- Transfers,
- Demotions,
- Promotions,
- Suspensions,
- Layoffs,
- Dismissal.
