6-70 HIRING (NEPOTISM) POLICY A member of a staff’s immediate family will be considered for employment or volunteering or student placement by the Agency provided the applicant possesses all of the qualifications for employment. These criteria will also be considered when assigning, transferring, or promoting staff. Staff who marry/co-habit or become members of the same household may continue employment despite this policy. As defined in the Employment Standards Act, 2000, the "immediate family" includes grandparents, parents, foster parents, bothers, sisters, spouse, common-law spouse, children, inlaws, step-parents, step-children, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Situations which existed prior to the enactment of this policy and which violate the restriction contained in this policy will be permitted to continue despite the enactment of this policy. |
