POLICY

The Agency utilizes an inter-departmental part time staff pool that consists of well-trained part time staff capable of responding to the needs of a variety of Agency departments.

PROCEDURE

  1. When part time staff are hired, they will be hired for regular part time status within a specific department.  Part time staff who are interested in joining the part time pool may become eligible after working three months.

  2. Part time staff interested in joining the part time pool should discuss his/her interests with his/her immediate Supervisor and indicate the program where they would like to work.  The immediate Supervisor will determine readiness and suitability based on related education, experience and job performance.
  3. When a part time staff member has been recommendedfor the part time pool, his/her immediate Supervisor will contact the Supervisor/Manager of the other programs to inform them that they have a part time staff interested in joining the part time pool forthe respective program.
  4. Staff in the part time pool will receive training in the programs that interest them, and when they have demonstrated a level of competence in the program, they will be recognized as eligible to work in that department.
  5. Each department will receive a list of staff in the part time pool outlining his/her level of seniority and the departments in which the staff are eligible to work.  The Human Resources Administrator will revise, update and distribute the list as changes occur.
  6. Staff in the part time pool will be responsible for ensuring that they do not exceed 44 hours weekly, unless specifically directed to do so by his/her Supervisor.
  7. The staff will be responsible for recording his/her hours in all departments.
  8. Managers and Supervisors will request updates and feedback on all part time pool staff  who have worked in his/her program.  These updates will be given to the home department Supervisor and utilized during supervision meetings and during the performance evaluation process.
