Assessment Services
Clients wishing to access services from
our Agency are first assessed to determine their needs and level of risk.
In addition to accessing information from other service providers, our
Agency utilizes a number of standardized assessment tools depending on
the age and service requirements of our clients. The Agency has a consulting
psychologist who provides services to children, youth and families.
Counselling Services
Holistic counselling services assist
clients with behavioural, emotional, employment, addiction and mental
health issues. Individual and/or group counselling is provided to empower
clients to resolve problems and increase their overall sense of well-being.
Goals for change are negotiated and clients are encouraged to take an
active role in the process. Consultation may include work with schools
and other community agencies. When possible, parents are encouraged to
participate in treatment planning and our parent support programs.
Day Treatment / Educational Services
These services help students who, because
of behavioural, emotional and/or learning difficulties, are unable to
benefit from a regular school program. These intensive services are provided
in six specialized classrooms with treatment and educational
components provided by a multi-disciplinary team. In partnership with
the Grand Erie District School Board, our Agency provides a school program
at the following locations:
- Roy Walsh Homes at 133 Elgin Street (2)
- Peter Willis Residence at 135 Elgin Street
- Varency Home at Jarvis Ontario
- Youth Action Centre at 466 Colborne Street (2)
The goals of the school program are to
assist children and youth to develop academic, behavioural and social
skills in order to re-integrate into a regular school setting and to
ensure their education is not interrupted while in our care.
Crisis Services
The Mobile Crisis Response Service provides
intervention service for children up to age 18 and their parents in Brant
County. Trained counsellors are accessible 7 days a week, 24 hours per
day. The service can be accessed by calling (519) 759-7188 or 1-866-811-7188. The
Mobile Crisis counsellors provide immediate telephone counselling and
when necessary on-site intervention. Service includes: crisis counselling,
referrals, support, advocacy, information and access to psychological
consultation.
Community Treatment
Intensive counselling and/or skills training
are provided to youth and adults with substance abuse and/or mental health
issues, employment barriers, lifeskills requirements and parenting support.
Trained counsellors provide services in schools and community settings.
Case Management
These services may be provided to clients
and/or their families with multiple and diverse needs. Clients are supported
in determining their service needs and encouraged to develop supports
with other community service providers.

day and provide a safe and healthy environment for children, youth and
