Parent Adolescent Support What is the Parent Adolescent Support Program? The Parent Adolescent Support Program (PASP) provides education, self awareness and support to parents and youth who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships. The Program is open to youth ages 13 to 18 and their parents. The group runs one night a week for 2 hours from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. for 10 weeks. A parent and youth group run simultaneously. Group Objectives To help parents and teenage youth understand the roles of each member within their family unit. To teach parents and teenage youth new skills to improve their ability to communicate, problem solve and resolve conflict in the family home. To assist parents in discussing typical adolescent behaviours and coping strategies. To provide parents and youth with ongoing support. How can the Parent Adolescent Support Program help our family? The PASP participants create a supportive environment for each other. Together with the assistance of a facilitator, each will learn new knowledge, ideas and skills. What if my Parent or Adolescent does not want to attend? It is strongly recommended that both youth and parent(s) attend. If it is not possible, you are welcome to attend on your own.
