Addiction Services

St. Leonard's Community Services offers free confidential counselling services to youth, adults and their family members.

ADULT – Consists of assessment, treatment planning, family support and aftercare, which may include individual and/or group counselling for individuals struggling with drug, alcohol, gambling and/or concurrent disorders. Concurrent Disorders onsite counselling is available at 12 Market Street, Brantford, call (519) 756-1117

Onsite counselling is available at the Brant Community Healthcare System-Brantford General Site on Wednesdays for patients of Mental Health Services and/or medical ward. An onsite education group is held each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. for inpatients only.

YOUTH - Consists of assessment, treatment planning, family support and aftercare for individuals under the age of 24, which may include individual and/or group counselling.

If you attend high school at Pauline Johnson, Tollgate, Grand Erie Learning Alternative, Brantford Collegiate Institute, North Park, Paris, Assumption or St. John’s and would like to meet with an addictions counsellor talk with your guidance counsellor, they can make a referral on your behalf.  Or you can call (519) 754-0253 and ask to speak with the addictions counsellor that attends your school.  You can arrange to meet with a counsellor at your school or schedule a meeting at the Addictions and Mental Health Centre located at 133 Elgin Street.

ABORIGINAL

Substance use healing and self-empowerment for First Nations people.

 

FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM

Individual and group supports are available for youth and adults who have a loved one using drugs or alcohol. 

The Family Support group is an ongoing support group for family members (over the age of 18) who are seeking answers or support about their family member or significant other’s substance use.  The Family Support group is held each Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Addictions and Mental Health Centre located at 133 Elgin Street, Brantford. 

This is a free group and no registration is required.  The first Monday of each month provides information about substance use, stages of change, etc.  If you have any questions or would like an information package mailed to you, contact Diana Rigg at (519) 754-0253, extension 313. 

NEEDLE EXCHANGE PROGRAM

This program is offered in partnership with the Brant County Health Unit and the de dwa dehs>nyes Aboriginal Health Centre.  Provides sterile needles and other harm reduction supplies, needle disposal, counselling and referrals for HIV, Hepatitis A, B or C and STD testing. You can access this program by dropping by the Addictions and Mental Health Centre at 133 Elgin Street, Brantford or at the de dwa dehs>nyes Aboriginal Health Centre 28 King Street, Brantford.

ONTARIO WORKS ADDICTION SERVICES INITIATIVE

Addiction counsellors are available onsite at Ontario Works to help individuals whose alcohol or drug use is a barrier to employment.
