“When children can’t live with family or foster parents …”

Children and youth who have experienced serious problems of neglect, parental rejection, and maltreatment may not be able to live with their own family or in foster care.  Sometimes families are unable to cope with youth with mental health concerns, behavioural issues, learning disabilities, chronic school failure, and a lack of social skills, anger and low self-esteem.

“Varency Home can help.”

Varency Home provides a safe, caring and encouraging environment for youth ages 12 – 17 who are in need of a long term, structured residential program that addresses their unique academic, social, behavioural and emotional needs.

The home provides a therapeutic residential program in a home like environment that features both structure and safety.  Staff work along side social workers, psychologists and teachers and other professionals in the community, creating plans to meet the individual needs of youth in the program.  These plans focus on providing youth with the skills for basic functioning, forming social support networks, building relationships, avoiding risky behaviour, developing life skills for independence, problem solving ability and achieving success in school and work, improving family connections and whenever possible, a return home to family.
