Cleaner - Shift Supervisor

  • Monday to Friday - 11:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Job Duties: 
  • Supervise and co-ordinate the work of Light and Heavy Duty cleaners and Waste-Recycle for the midnight shift
  • Prepare and complete staff hours for the Supervisor Reports in order to verify payroll hours
  • Liaise between client/customers, head office and workers to monitor and resolve customer complaints and issues as needed
  • Inspect facilities to ensure cleaners’ work meets CCS and client quality standards
  • Recommend or arrange for additional services required such as equipment repairs or contract work, such as High Level Cleaning
  • Oversee the onboarding of new staff, ensuring proper paperwork, training and orientation
  • Support cleaning staff to complete tasks in compliance with CCS’ internal standards of quality and safety
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring that cleaners are following CCS safe operating procedures
  • Complete accident reports following incidents or accidents and send to the Health and Safety Director
  • Make recommendations to Area Managers regarding the performance of staff
  • Work with Human Resources to administer coaching, discipline warnings, suspensions and terminations
  • Encourage staff morale through “shift start-up meetings” to inform employees of important updates and shift needs
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and work with Site Manager to re-order and re-stock as needed
  • Inspect cleaners’ carts to ensure they are properly maintained, cleaned/stocked and all products meet WHMIS labeling
  • Prepare work schedules and co-ordinate cleaning and maintenance activities with other departments
  • Will perform cleaning duties as needed
Job Qualifications: 
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a cleaning or janitorial role
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a supervisor
  • Ability to take responsibility for workers’ safety and performance
  • Ability to translate customer quality expectations to workers in order to maintain the highest level of customer service and satisfaction
  • Ability to train and lead employees, and manage their performance through coaching, development or discipline
  • Ability to motivate cleaners to perform their tasks and commit to CCS
  • Ability to monitor staff to ensure they are attending their shifts on time, and completing their tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to organize workers’ cleaning schedules to ensure work is complete
