Crew Leader - Community Work Program

This is a part time position that will focus on supporting the Community Work Program.  The ideal candidate will be a mature individual that can handle the physical demand of this position:

  • Lawn Care with some landscaping
  • Small move
  • Fall & spring cleanup
  • Snow removal
Job Duties: 

Key Accountabilities

Client Supervision:

  • Record client hours worked for statistical purposes
  • Record client hours worked for pay and invoicing purposes
  • Promote client participation in Work Program
  • Bring client issues/concerns to Program Coordinator/Executive Director and/or Board of Directors as deemed necessary
  • Establish work goals and objectives with clients
  • Establish personal goals with clients
  • Conduct client satisfaction surveys on an annual basis
  • Program Development:
  • Establish and maintain a mature and professional role and status for the agency in the community
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all customers, suppliers, agencies and others who conduct business or come in contact with True Experience
  • Purchase materials and supplies on a best-price/best-value basis with approval from the Program Coordinator and/or Executive Director

Community/Customer Relations:

  • Maintain the utmost confidentiality and integrity regarding all client and agency activities
  • Represent the interest, mandate and position of the agency within the community in a positive and professional manner
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
  • Promote client participation in community activities
  • Support community understanding of mental health issues

Administration:

  • Track all client related activities, repair and maintenance activities and all administrative activities for statistical purposes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain customer files in a timely and accurate manner

Training:

  • Instruct clients on the safe operation of equipment
  • Instruct clients on safe methods and procedures for conducting work
  • Ensure clients understand how to perform the necessary tasks in order to meet customer satisfaction
  •  

Health & Safety:

  • Report any unsafe conditions to the Program Coordinator
  • Maintain records, incident reports and accident reports
  • Promote and ensure a safe working environment for the clients
  • Implement, promote and follow-up on any safety measures required for the Work Program
  • Attend Staff Meetings and serve as an advisor to the Health and Safety Committee, ensure all safety measures are implemented and maintained and that all safety standards are met.

Assist with Equipment & Facilities Maintenance:

  • equipment maintenance including but not limited to lawn maintenance equipment, snow removal equipment, etc.
  • vehicles maintenance by ensure annual safety checks, E-tests, etc. as required by law
  • regular oil changes of vehicles and other maintenance in order to operate at maximum efficiency
  • ensure daily circle checks are conducted on vehicles that you operate
  • minor repairs to shop, office building and supportive housing facilities
  • minor repairs to trucks, trailers, riding and push mowers
  • minor repairs to snow blowers, trimmers, etc.
  • minor repairs to shop equipment
  • Operate forklift as required (with certification) and ensure operational checks are performed as required.
Job Qualifications: 

Qualifications:

  • Class “G” with a Clean Driving record ( 2 million liability insurance)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Mechanical inclined
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Handy man skills
  •  Strong work ethic
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with people from all walks of life

Willingness to learn:

  • To lead and supervise a crew of 3-5 employees
  • accurately collect data and input for statistical and reporting requirements
  • awareness of people that live with mental illness
  • the repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, facilities
  • to work in a supportive team environment
