Job Duties: 
  • Direct and monitor the unloading of grains into the unloading pit
  • Control the flow of grains through the cleaners, bulk silos, and transfer to Mill
  • Conduct testing of grain samples, including moisture, bushel weight, and dockage to monitor quality of product
  • Complete inventory cycle counts as required and report to materials coordinator
  • Ensure raw materials are received from an Approved Supplier and inspections are conducted
  • Complete all required paperwork included in receiving, sampling and testing
  • Oversee the operation, cleanliness, and organization of the elevator area to the best of your ability
  • Schedule and coordinate with purchasing for incoming bulk grain deliveries directly with the supplier as required
  • Ensure the integrity of the schedule is maintained for receiving grains given the information made available
  • If/when testing procedures are not meeting the intent of the program offer alternate options
  • Support the Quality team to ensure maintenance of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program
  • Report all food safety problems and/or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate actions
  • Report any/all concerns or conflicts directly to either the Department Lead, Materials Coordinator or Plant Manager
  • Schedule the inventory cycle counts
  • Schedule silo “clean-outs’ as prescribed in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Track and release rail car products and coordinate transportation of product to plant
  • Train employees on operating elevators, scales and transferring equipment
  • Report unresolved issues to the Department Lead for intervention should they become problematic to the productive purpose of the shift or employee morale
Job Qualifications: 
  • Be the “Quality Conscience” of the organization as it pertains to receipt and handling of bulk raw materials in support of SQF requirements
  • Position is physically demanding
  • May require working both outside and inside in warm or cold conditions
  • Requires working in teams
  • Plant contains peanuts, wheat, and other allergens
  • Possess a valid drivers' licence
