Hours of Work:
- Weekends, Sat 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Weekdays, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Job Duties:
- Maintain the utmost confidentiality and integrity regarding all client and agency activities
- Track all administrative activities for statistical purposes in a timely and accurate manner
- Keep daily log records
- Oversee the clients in their performance of household chores
- Monitoring of daily medication compliance
- Provide, as required, recommendations, possible solutions and choices for client’s personal needs and interpersonal conflicts
- Plan and develop with clients, recreational activities which will contribute positively towards the lifestyle and stability of clients
- Teach life skills required for daily living activities and instill good lifestyle habits in the clients
- Encourage and support clients in their work and personal development
- Instruct clients in the safe operation of appliances and equipment
- Teach clients budgeting, cooking, cleaning, grooming, personal hygiene and social skills
- Ensure Corporate Health and Safety Policy Statement is adhered to by all clients/workers in every aspect of daily performance of individual responsibilities
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Full-time Residential Support Staff and/or Executive Director
- Maintain records, incident reports and accident reports
- Maintain a high level of safety standards in the residence and maintain safety/operating level of the housing program vehicle
- To assist residents and community based residents in developing their life skills in community and social interactions
- To supervise the day to day routines of household management of a medium support congregate living facility as required
Job Qualifications:
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract in order to be insurable with company broker
- Police Clearance Certificate (within 6 months)
- Understanding of and interest in mental health and wellness
- Experience in a group home or working with marginalized individuals would be an asset
- Competency with computers and applicable technology
- Excellent communication skills – written and spoken
- Willingness to be flexible with hours of work
- Willingness to function well as part of a team and with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well in stressful situations
- Excellent problem solving skills
