Employment Program (HUB)

The goal of the Employment Program is to provide youth with the resources necessary to get and stay employed.  Pathways to decent work revolve around developing the skills and strategies to prepare youth for the future of work.  The learning content equips them with resources in three key employment domains:

Career Exploration - Exploring the soft skills of employment readiness and the core competencies that will serve a young person in finding employment and increasing awareness of career opportunities within the Skilled Trades and promote the Skilled Trades as a viable career option.

Employment Preparation and Job Maintenance – Expanding knowledge on resume writing and how to effectively write a cover letter and phone script.  Also, equipping youth with the necessary perspective and preparation to succeed in job interviews and expanding the focus of attention from finding and retaining a job to exploring long-term goals.

Access to Employment Resources – Connecting youth to resources available to enhance their job search and career path.

Selection of module(s) and sub-modules to be used is determined through an interview, an assessment of risk/need and review of supporting documentation in collaboration with the client’s identified goals.  Sessions are offered up to twice per week and each session is one hour.
