37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Weekends as scheduled for group facilitation and/or program needs, and one late night every 3 weeks from 12 noon till 8 pm
Duties
Community Justice Counsellors offer client-centered services that provide strength-based individual education, assessment and counselling to youth and adults involved in the legal system. The primary focus for client service delivery would be supporting the Bail Verification and Supervision Program , Back on Track (BOT), Direct Accountability Program
As a Community Justice Counsellor, you will:
Complete assessments for BOT, set up appointments, follow up with clients and facilitate groups.
Assist in other Community Justice programs: intakes, court coverage, meeting with clients.
Respond to client needs by providing support counselling, information and by liaising with resources, supports and referral sources.
Qualifications
- Have a college diploma in a Human/Social Services field.
- Have a minimum 1-year combined student placement and/or paid experience working with individuals involved in the justice system.
- Have a knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
- Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases.
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Be able to manage occasional exposure to vicarious traumatic stress.
