Duties

BroPak Inc is a manufacturer of plastic food packaging. We are looking to add a Heavy/Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician to our team!

Duties include:

  • Conduct inspections on machinery and equipment to identify, detect, and troubleshoot any irregularities or malfunctions. 
  • Make necessary adjustments to the machinery and either repair or replace faulty or worn-out parts. 
  • Utilize hoist and lifting systems, such as cranes, for the transportation, installation, and repair of heavy machinery or components. 
  • Utilize machine tools such as grinders and drill press to fabricate or repair parts needed during maintenance. 
  • Conduct scheduled Preventive Maintenance of machinery such as robots, injection, and thermoforming. 
  • Document daily maintenance and PM log reports. 
  • Maintains and organizes the spare parts areas, ensuring that adequate spare part inventory is upheld. 
  • Coordinates mechanical/electrical contractors as required to provide support assistance when necessary. 
  • Supports production system output, providing on-call and after hours support if required to support business objectives. 
  • Active participation in the Health and Safety program. 
  • Must adhere to the Company's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ensures plant is maintained at a high standard of housekeeping. 
  • Performs other duties for the benefit of the Company as required.
  • Promotes and ensures adherence to all Company Rules and Safety Laws where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Team player with excellent oral  and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate injection, thermoforming, and robot machines for production support. 
  • Ability to change and align molds for injection and thermoforming machinery. 
  • Capable of interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to ascertain appropriate work procedures. 
  • Knowledge & familiarity with a high-speed manufacturing environment an asset 
  • Processing: ability to follow a logical sequence of steps to ensure efficiency and determine root cause analysis 
  • Operation Monitoring: watching gauges, dials or other measuring/sensor devices to make sure a machine is working properly. 
  • Troubleshooting; determine causes of operating errors and make decisions about next action step. 
  • Mechanical; knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, and maintenance. 
  • Ability to identify and resolve various potential issues with the machinery, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and electronics problems. 
  • Reasoning: ability to perform basic mathematic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) without a calculator or other tool 
  • Minimum 1 year experience in plastic manufacturing industry. Knowledge of high-speed injection and thermoforming is an asset. 

Credentials: 

  • College/CEGEP in Heavy/Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technologies or equivalent experience. 
  • Hoisting and Rigging Training 
  • Forklift Operator Certification
