Duties
We are currently seeking Summer Kids Camps Assistants to join our team. Due to our steady and progressive growth, we have theses opportunities available at our Six Nations Clinic.
Qualia Counselling Services is a Cognitive Behaviour psychotherapy, coaching and training practice with five clinics.

Our summer kids camps play a vital role in serving our indigenous populations. Our summer kids camps are nature based, and we deliver high quality cognitive behaviour interventions in fun interactive and engaging ways for a full week long.
As a Summer Kids Camp Assistant, you will ideally love working with children, being outdoors, and contributing in a meaningful way to improved mental wellness and health. Your job will be to prepare all activities, support clinical staff in the delivery of the therapeutic components, and support the children in their activities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kids Camp Facilitation and Assisting:
- Follow the direction of the Clinical Lead and Operations Manager.
- Prepare for and deliver kids camp activities as directed.
- Prepare for all kids camps activities, set up and take down.
- Keep kids camp activity items inventory and ensure purchasing requirements are purchased.
- Develop strong healthy relationships with children during their camp experience.
- Model healthy communications, interactions, and choices within the kids camp setting.
- Nurture the children professionally and appropriately (responding to questions, communicating support, helping them with activities).
Kids Camp Activity Preparation:
- Prepare all kids camp activities per child in attendance and the direction of the clinical facilitator.
- Ensure all items required for camp activities are kept organized, maintained and stocked.
- Prepare the physical space for kids camps activities each day.
Qualifications
Applicants from Six Nations and other First Nations will be given preference to deliver programs and services in a First Nations community.
Education and Experience:
- Must have a current (within the last six months) Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector completed
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Post-Secondary enrollment or education in a related field is preferred
- Previous experience in a similar role is an asset
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of what confidentiality is and requirements in keeping confidentiality in a professional setting
- Understanding of what psychotherapy is and the benefits of mental wellness work
- Knowledge of children, their ages and stages of development and how best to relate to different age groups
- Preference for those who are knowledgeable of the Six Nations community, culture, and traditions
